In Recognition and Celebration of International Women’s Day, Next League Announces Investments into the Women’s Sports Foundation® and the LPGA Foundation.
NEW YORK, NY - March 8, 2024 - Next League, a global team of strategists and technologists, specializing in creating, designing, building and operating technology solutions for sports organizations, announced strategic investments into the Women’s Sports Foundation® and the LPGA Foundation, two organizations committed to advancing opportunities for girls and women in sport.
These investments are part of Next League’s broader commitment to social impact causes, especially those that provide access to the sports and sports business industry to people who might not have otherwise had it.
Earlier this week at Sports Business Journal’s Tech Week, Next League, a presenting partner in this year’s event, announced a $10,000 donation to the Women’s Sports Foundation in recognition of all women speakers at this year’s event. The goal is to surpass that donation amount in the years to come.
”For 50 years and counting, the Women’s Sports Foundation has recognized the powerful connection between sports access, equity, and society, while amplifying a simple message: when girls and women play, they lead and we all win,” said Women’s Sports Foundation CEO Danette Leighton. “We are grateful for Next League’s contribution to our vital work, which will help us continue to build a future where all girls and women can play, compete and lead – this International Women’s Day and beyond – without barriers.”
Also at the event, Next League’s Chief Operating Officer Becki Civello announced the formation of the ‘Next in Sports Tech: Rising Female Tech Leader’ Award. This award, to be distributed beginning in 2025, will be given to a rising female star who has a technology role within an organization that focuses on sports.
“Making this milestone investment to support the Women’s Sports Foundation, especially during Women’s History Month, is incredibly powerful,” said Civello. “We share in their mission to create an environment where all women and girls can play and succeed and we look forward to partnering with them for years to come.”
As part of their new multi-year engagement with the LPGA, the world’s premier women’s professional golf organization, Next League has committed $100,000 to the LPGA Foundation. As the philanthropic arm of the LPGA, the LPGA Foundation’s programs advance equality by removing barriers to sports participation, ensuring every girl and woman who want to play has a welcoming and positive experience while taking advantage of the benefits of golf.
“We're thrilled to continue our partnership with Next League, driving innovation and advancing technology across the LPGA,” said LPGA Commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan. “As the global leader in women's professional golf, we’re dedicated to using our unique platform to empower, inspire, and advance opportunities for girls and women, both on and off the golf course. I’m proud to see Next League share in our commitment, and we're excited to work together to grow the LPGA and make a meaningful impact on the world.”
“Our commitment to social impact causes is something we are very proud of,” said Civello. “Part of our mission is to work with sports organizations and make investments that have a lasting social impact. We are thrilled to be able to work with the LPGA - and their Foundation - in this way for years to come.”
Next League has made similar commitments with several other partners within the last year. Together with the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee, they formed the Next League USOPF Endowment Fund, a multi-year philanthropic commitment to the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Foundation, the fundraising arm of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee. Next League has also joined TMRW Sports by making a gift to the TMRW Sports Fund at Palm Beach State College, site of its new tech-infused, purpose-built venue, to provide scholarships for students and support academic program development.
