Next League Hires Sports Tech Veteran for Executive Role

Juan De Jesus joins Next League as its Chief Strategy Officer

NEW YORK, NY - April 17, 2023 - Next League, the leading digital growth consultancy and technology services organization working exclusively within the global sports industry, today announced the hiring of Juan De Jesus as its new Chief Strategy Officer.

In this newly created role Juan, a sports industry veteran and a 2022 Sports Business Journal Forty Under 40 recipient, will be responsible for brand strategy, positioning and overall growth as well as overseeing the growth of the company’s strategic consulting efforts. He will be part of the Executive Management team and will report to David Nugent, Next League’s Chief Executive Officer.

Juan was most recently at Dapper Labs as the Vice President, Sports Partnerships, where he managed their NBA and NFL partnerships and was pivotal in shaping these partners’ NFT business strategies. Juan had previously spent more than six years at Meta (formerly Facebook Inc.) leading their strategic sports partnership efforts, advising brands like UFC, Overtime, Peloton and Major League Baseball clubs on how to grow their businesses via digital strategies. He started his career in the sports industry at the office of the Commissioner of Major League Baseball; he worked there in various capacities over seven years, first completing the Executive Development program and ultimately co-leading the restructuring of the international baseball operations process.

“Juan joining our team is a powerful statement on Next League’s position in the sports ecosystem and will help accelerate the vision we have for being the most important digital evolution partner in sports,“ said David Nugent, Next League’s CEO. “We are thrilled to have Juan on our team and know his wealth of relevant experience, deep industry knowledge and a track record of success will help accelerate that vision.”

“I am excited to join the Next League team as I’ve been fortunate to work for companies that have played an integral role in the evolution of the sports technology industry throughout my career,” said Juan. “This is an unprecedented moment in the sports industry, and advancements in technology, and the applications of it, are a huge reason why. I look forward to building upon the relationships and value-driven partnerships I’ve cultivated over the years to continue to drive this exciting and ever-changing industry forward, helping our partners deliver better fan experiences and working to collectively build sustainable business models.”

Next League provides thought leadership, strategy and consulting, product design and development, software and systems development and integration, and the maintenance and operations of existing products and platforms to leading sports organizations including TMRW Sports, the PGA TOUR, the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC), NASCAR and the XFL, among nearly a dozen others. Part of its mission includes partnering with sports organizations to make investments that have a lasting social impact.

“A big part of what makes this such a great fit for me is that I will be joining a values-driven organization that places a strong emphasis on its commitment to causes that lead to meaningful change. I am passionate about this and am glad to be part of an organization that places emphasis on building a team with diverse perspectives in its unwavering commitment to better serving the modern sports fan.”
